THE CHALLENGE

This particular job did not challenge us, but the weather definitely did not help. Upon arriving to site for pile-driving, our team was met with some flooding from extensive rain over the several days on site.

To overcome this, they dug a thin channel that redirected the water to a corner, where the water could drain effectively. This creative solution greatly improved the working conditions and helped to speed up the piling process.

WHAT WE DID

Piling

Piling began on this site in early December 2025, using our tried-and-true combination of a Grundomat pneumatic mole and air winch. This allows our teams to work quickly, as there are 27 piles on this site.

We managed to install all 27 piles in the allotted timeframe, despite the wet weather conditions.

Steel Ring Beam

With over 55m of ring beam needing to be tied in, we employed the help of two extra sets of hands. This particular job was more difficult due to the design of the trench having so many corners, which requires more complex links than the straight lap bars. Despite this, we had the ring beam installed ready for concrete.

Concrete

We used a combination of two full drum mixer deliveries, and Rhino Concrete‘s volumetric wagon, along with JME‘s concrete line pump. Overall, the concrete installation was a huge success despite the trench having a lot of water in it. Our team made a small channel in the concrete to help the water drain out of the trench.

THE OUTCOME

For a start-to-finish new build foundations, this project was completed rather quickly and to a very high standard. The only factor that could have slowed our teams down was the weather, which they quickly found solutions for.

This is yet another project ticked off by Rhino! If you have any foundation needs, give us a call on the number below and we’ll get you out of the ground!
