Today, we completed the piled foundation for a single-storey home extension in Rhyl, North Wales.

Piling was necessary in order to satisfy Welsh Water, who were concerned about protecting a drain running directly through the site. The builder found us on Google after searching for ‘Piling North Wales’. He was impressed with the professionalism and speed of response from our Estimator Ryan, and despite being 72 miles away from us in Manchester, was keen to book a free site visit with our Technical Director Jonathan.

Jonathan, being no stranger to drain issues and having solved similar problems on a number of occasions, satisfied the builder that Rhino Piling were the right piling company for him, and produced a piling scheme that satisfied Welsh Water’s demands of no piles being with a metre of the drain.

This meant a slightly unusual ‘mini pile cap’ solution at both ends of the extension as space was restricted by the existing home.

The team of Sam and Harry made the 1 hour and 22 minute drive from Rhino HQ to Rhyl on 27th April 2023, and drove 9 piles to approximately 4 metres with our Grundomat piling system. They returned the following day to install 14m of 450 x 450mm steel ring beam, and pour, level and tamp 3.5 cubic metres of C35 concrete to complete the piled foundation in 2 days.

Despite being a piling contractor in Manchester, we’ve completed a handful of piling projects in North Wales. All site visits are free, regardless of location, and there’s absolutely no obligation, so if you can’t find a local company, give us a call on 0161 706 0365 or drop us an email at enquiries@rhinopiling.co.uk.
