Is Mini Piling Right For You?

There is no room to be complacent when it comes to the stability of your foundation, and that is why it is important to consult a licenced and experienced contractor, particularly when a project concerns existing structures that may be affected by soil displacement and subsidence. There is a common misconception that residential properties suffering from foundational problems are unsuitable for piling projects, however there are alternative approaches on the market that provide the same level of support and longevity.

Mini piling is a residential piling approach that has been specifically designed for implementation in situations where traditional piling has been deemed unsuitable following an on-site evaluation. It uses piles that have a narrower diameter and involves the application of steel  casings which are driven into the ground and filled with grout. Mini piles are perfect for underpinning, reinforcing, and repairing existing foundations, while also being ideal for piling in awkward sites or confined spaces. Although their characteristically narrower diameter often leads to the perception of weakness, mini piling is actually a highly sophisticated and reliable piling approach that offers many benefits, such as:

  • Easy use in restricted headroom spaces
  • Minimal noise or vibrational disturbance for residential areas
  • Cheaper to install than traditional piles
  • More environmentally friendly for green projects
  • Versatile, and ready for a range of applications

Here at Rhino Piling, our team of licensed experts conduct an on-site evaluation prior to the commencement of any construction work, as it is important to take certain factors into consideration when planning your project, such as the type of soil in the surrounding area, the amount of space that is on offer, and whether there are any existing foundations located nearby. Typically, a recommendation for mini piling will follow the completion of such evaluations as the piles’ narrower diameter makes the approach easier to install because they are lighter. Furthermore, mini-piling rigs are also significantly smaller as they are designed with existing foundational repair in mind.
